Numerous national and international spine surgeons have met in Concepción (Chile) from 22.08. until 23.08. to exchange knowledge and experience regarding the possibilities of MISS surgery for the operative treatment of spinal disorders. The two-day course, held at the Faculty of Medicine of the University Hospital in Concepción, consisted of a practical and a theoretical part with the main topics “specifics and benefits of microsurgery” and “MISS for spine surgery” with practical application on RealSpine and transmission of a live operation. The surgery on RealSpine took place on our spondylolisthesis patient, where the surgeons performed a microscopic decompression.
We would like to thank Dr. Avelino Parajón (Chief Physician of the Spinal Surgery Section at the Hospital Ramón y Cajal in Madrid), Dr. Markus Weißkopf (Chief Physician of the Department of Orthopedics; Trauma and Surgery at the Kreisklinik Wertingen), Dr. Roberto Leal L., Director of the course, and the coordinators Dr. Miguel Acuña M. and Dr. Osvaldo Ojeda S. from the University Hospital in Concepción for making the course a success.
